The World Cup has been going on for a bit now, and I've been amazed -- sure, by the athleticism, but more so by those darn vuvuzelas. When asked to give their opinion on them, some said the horns add excitement to the event. But I have to believe there are others so deafened by the sound of these things that they didn't hear the question in the first place.

How to Protect Your Hearing
Sure, ear plugs may not come in your favorite team's colors. But as this video shows, they are still worth your while. They do a good job of protecting you from crazy soccer fan-level crowd noise -- or loud noise from any source, for that matter.

Years and Your Ears
My grandmother was never in the presence of said horn. Age, unfortunately, was what did her hearing in. I'd walk into a room screaming at her, and others would ask why I was so worked up. "Just saying hello," I'd tell them.
