From Kristin Kane, your About Health Editor
Boot Camp Workout - Those three words are enough to make my knees quiver. Don't get me wrong, keeping active to stay healthy is a big part of my life. But military style? I'm not quite sure I'm among the 'few and the proud.'

Reporting for Duty
Trainers barking at me in fatigues are what have rendered me AWOL from classes like these thus far. That's why I'm happy to learn that the cliché instructors are phasing out. What's left? Tough, but results-driven exercise. Maybe it's worth a second try after all.

Basic, Basic Training
I've generally been more of a gym girl. When it comes to weight training, I've stuck to some tried and true exercises. (Good for anyone interested in getting started.)

Beyond Toning
Sure, most of us don't need to bulk up to, say, carry heavy equipment or board a tank. But remember that there's big motivation (especially for women) for doing resistance moves -- preventing osteoporosis.

At Ease
Now that your muscles are yelling at you (they'll adjust with time, I promise), here's a sweet recommendation for recovery: massage. This unconventional method will help you release tension without the need for a fat wallet and a guy named Sven.

About.com Health: Drugs and Your Teen

About.com

From Kristin Kane, your About Health Editor
The conversation my parents had with me about drugs roughly went down like this:

Mom and Dad: They are bad for you. Don't use them.
Me: OK

My parents benefited from times being a lot simpler then - "foo foo" was just an adjective used for something frilly, and "gift of the sun" made us think of the magic that makes plants grow.

"My Teen Won't Use Drugs"
We hope that is true, but it is wise to be aware of the risk and why some kids find their way to use and abuse.

Access May Be Close to Home
Prescription drug abuse continues to be a growing, disturbing trend - and supplies can be as close as the family medicine chest.

When the Drug's Not a Drug
Nail polish. Permanent markers. Spray paint. These and other household supplies are under-the-radar choices for some.

"But It's Just Pot..."
Sadly, some teens believe that marijuana is NBD (that's "no big deal" in Teenese). The truth is that this drug carries with it both short- and long-term hazards.
