Subway has pledged to remove from its restaurants all meat that has been treated with antibiotics by 2025. In doing so, the sandwich chain is joining the ranks of McDonald's, Panera, Chipotle, and Chick-fil-A, all of which are either using antibiotic-free meat or have promised to do so in the future. Why? Well, when antibiotics first came along, we loved their ability to destroy bacteria... the problem is that the bacteria learned to fight back.
